Nowadays, games are considered as an electronic media that is closer to children and teenagers than other media because they are easy to find, provide fun, and seem to be the media that parents use as a tool to help raise children nowadays because they think that games are something that will help children learn with new technologies that are changing rapidly. Games also give parents more personal time, not having to take care of their children all the time. Therefore, they may not see the hidden dangers of various types of games. From the research survey results, it is indicated that the factors that cause children to become addicted to games are caused by many factors, whether from biological, psychological, family, or social factors. They are all factors that help promote or inhibit the development of game addiction in children. In addition, playing games for a long time also has many problems for children, such as physical health, learning, and behavior. This is considered a significant impact that will hinder children's development, whether it is physical, mental, emotional, and social development, which may affect children to have problems in the future. Therefore, taking care of and solving the problem of children addicted to games is a primary duty that we all must give importance to because it is not the duty of any one agency to take care of this issue. But all institutions must cooperate, including families, schools, communities, government agencies, and private sectors that are involved. They should be aware of the problem and give importance to solving the problem seriously. To help solve the problem of children and teenagers' gaming addiction most effectively (Suphawadi, 2014), and the advancement of modern technology has caused health problems in children and teenagers from online gaming addiction, mobile phones, and computers. It has been reported that teenagers who like to play games that are aggressive and violent tend to unknowingly absorb aggressive and violent thoughts and behaviors. This causes them to be stubborn and defiant towards teachers and parents, which can easily lead to fights when there is a conflict (Sirithon, 2013).
The problem of children addicted to online games in Thai society has been a topic of discussion for more than 10 years. Scholars from both Thailand and abroad are interested in studying the behavior of children addicted to online games. Currently, this problem has not been resolved, which has caused concern for parents and teachers, especially some children who are addicted to online games so much that it affects their studies and relationships in the family. Students' intention to play online games depends on their enjoyment of playing online games, attitudes toward online games, and following their friends who play online games. Indirect factors that promote students' intention to play online games include trust in online game websites (Dokmai, Krapetchpanee, and Chitstathaporn, 2013).
Students of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Burapha University Most of them are between the ages of 18-22. They spend their free time after school and on holidays playing games to relieve stress from things around them, have fun, enjoy, develop their thinking, wit, human relations, imagination, and can adapt well to social groups by talking to friends through online games. But on the contrary, if they do not play in moderation, it will have negative effects, causing them to lose their studies, health, time, and income sources. Therefore, the thesis author conducted a study of online gaming behavior of students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Burapha University, to find out about the students' online gaming behavior and to use it as information to adjust their gaming behavior appropriately. |
